The Jomolhari Trek is one of the most popular and scenic treks in Bhutan. This high-altitude trek offers stunning views of Mt. Jomolhari (7,326m) and Jichu Drake (6,794m). Starting from Paro, the trail winds through beautiful valleys, alpine meadows, and remote villages, crossing high passes and pristine lakes.
It is not just a trek; it's a journey into the heart of the Himalayas, where the air is thin but the spirit is soar high. You'll encounter nomadic yak herders, ancient fortresses, and a landscape that feels untouched by time.
Meet your guide at Paro International Airport. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit to Kyichu Lhakhang and Rinpung Dzong. Explore Paro town in the evening.
A preparatory hike to the iconic monastery perched on a cliffside. A must-do for acclimatization and breathtaking views.
Drive to Drugyel Dzong where the trek begins. Trek along the Paro River through forests of oak and pine to Shana.
Trek through Jigme Dorji National Park. The trail ascends steeply through rhododendron forests. Catch your first glimpse of Mt. Jomolhari.
Follow the river above the tree line. Pass yak herder camps. Arrive at Jangothang, one of the most beautiful campsites in the Himalayas.
Enjoy spectacular views of the Jomolhari mountain range. Optional hike to Tshophu Lake or towards the base of Jichu Drake.
Cross the Nyile La pass (4,870m). Descend towards Lingshi village and catch views of Lingshi Dzong.
The highest point of the trek, crossing Yale La pass (4,930m). Breathtaking panoramic views of the snowy peaks.
Descend through giant rhododendron forests and along the riverside. Meet your vehicle and drive to Thimphu.
Drive from Thimphu to Paro airport for your onward flight.
