Bhutan is home to thousands of temples and monasteries, some dating back to the 7th century. This cultural tour takes you on a spiritual journey through the most sacred and ancient sites in Western Bhutan.
You will visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in the country, and the majestic Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers. Every site has a story rooted in legend and history.
Arrival at Paro airport. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, built by King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century. Explore Paro town in the late afternoon.
Drive to Thimphu. Visit Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma, and the National Library containing ancient spiritual manuscripts.
Hike to Cheri and Tango monasteries, significant centers for higher Buddhist studies and meditation in Thimphu.
Drive to Punakha over Dochu La pass. Visit Punakha Dzong, arguably the most beautiful fortress-temple in Bhutan.
Visit the 'Fertility Temple' (Chimi Lhakhang) and the surrounding villages. Drive back towards Thimphu/Paro.
Hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest), the most famous temple in Bhutan, built on the side of a cliff where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated.
Final shopping in Paro and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
